Appearance:
Jared towers over most other people at six foot six inches tall but is willow thin, his body barely more then skin and bone with some wiry muscle in between. His hair is light brown, almost blond at some spots and is completely out of control, nothing he does with gel or moose will tame it. His eyes are a dark green, looking a little bit brown sometimes.
He wear glasses when he wants to appear smart, his vision is perfect but he knows that a man wearing glasses is sometimes taken more seriously, that and its fun. As for his clothing, he often favors comfortable fitting pin stripe suits, occasionally with a brown over coat atop it. His shoes don't quite fit with this though, Converse sneakers being the norm for him.
Abilities: Metal, he can control any metal within thirty feet of his body, the more he moves the more effort it takes
Personality: Jared is not a very simple person, there is a surface but deep bellow that there is something that you would rather not want to meet. Both are equally part of him, neither is the “real Jared” because they are both Jared.
Most of the time Jared is an incredibly happy and friendly person, always willing to do whatever he can in order to help someone else if they need it and always quick to forgive.
But he can also be rather harsh and unforgiving, it isn't easy to get on his bad side but once you have it is incredibly hard to earn his trust again. He will forgive but he will definitely not forget or trust unless you prove yourself worthy of it.
He tends to be a tad bit arrogant at times, he is brilliant and often looks down on people because of this, he tries not to but can't quite help it sometimes.
Dislikes: any form of race/speciesisim, having nothing to amuse himself with, not being able to get his caffeine
Likes: caffeine any way that he can get it, junk food, a good brain teaser
Weapon of choice: His mind and his mouth, he prefers to talk his way out of any problem that he has, he would rather not fight though
Weakness: He is human and has all the physical frailties of a human, his unwillingness to fight can put him in danger
Family: presumably he had parents at some point but no one knows who or where they are
History:
Background: Jared Holmes was not raised by his parents, rather he was found abandoned on the door step of The Holmes Orphanage for children where he was subsequently raised.
Life there wasn't easy for Jared, he was a bit of an intellectual and that set him apart from the other orphans he was raised with. He was often picked on and roughed up by those who were larger then him, and as thin as Jared was most were larger then him.
Looking for a way out Jared threw himself into his studies as best he could, working hard in school and by the time he was fifteen he had graduated and was on his way to college, given a full ride for both academics and his long distance running.
In college he worked even harder, his love for history helping him earn his first doctorate while his curiosity about something that the nuns who ran the orphanage had repressed (IE sex) led to him earning a second doctorate in human and near human (IE vampire, meremaid, lycan, ect.) sexuality.
One incident during that time shook him greatly though, while on his way home to his dorm one night he was assaulted by a man with a knife. It was the first time he ever used his power, pulling the blade from the man on instinct and causing it to fly into his hand. Neither he or the mugger really believed what had just happened and in a state of shock he told the mugger to just go home and turned his back on him.
The mugger had a second knife though... one that cut Jared across the shoulder before it ended up in the muggers throat. It was then he decided that he would give everyone a single chance... but there would be no second chances.
Now out of college with two doctorates he wants to help impart his knowledge onto others, to encourage others to that they might work as hard as he did
